Also known as the ornamental turmeric or Siam tulip, this easy-to-grow rhizomatous plant features an upright structure with slender, lance-shaped, medium green leaves. As a tropical member of the ginger family, ornamental turmeric thrives in hot, high-humidity summer climates. It prefers sunny to partially shaded locations with mildly acidic to neutral, moist, well-draining soil. 
To ensure optimal growth, maintain consistent moisture throughout the growing season and never let the plant dry out. For best results, enrich sandy or clay soils with organic matter like compost before planting, and apply our soil enhancers in the spring and summer. This plant is deer resistant and requires no deadheading.
